20世纪50年代末，日本申奥成功，从东京到全国各地都沉浸在一片自豪与喜悦之中。而我们所熟悉的东京夕阳町三丁目，平淡却不乏温情的百姓故事仍在继续着。铃木车行迎来了亲戚家的孩子，美丽女孩美加（彩梦 饰）。这位养尊处优的大小姐自然无法适应夕阳町的庶民生活，令则文（堤真一 饰）、六子（堀北真希 饰）颇为挠头。另一边厢，茶川龙之介（吉冈秀隆 饰）与淳之介（须贺健太 饰）相守，但始终思念离开的广美（小雪 饰）。淳之介生父的到来让茶川甚感郁闷，为了证明自己拥有抚养淳之介的能力，他重整旗鼓，决定向再次芥川奖发起冲击。夕阳町的平常人们如同一家人，相互争吵、牵绊、鼓舞、扶持，迎来了最为辉煌的时代……

在东京下野有一间叫铃木的汽车修理店，店主叫铃木则文（堤真一 饰），他与妻子友枝（药师丸博子 饰）、儿子一平生活幸福和睦。一天，他们迎来了从乡下到大城市工作的星野六子（堀北真希 饰）到店里打工，满心以为回到大公司工作的六子来到店里之后非常失望，但她还是很虚心的留下打工。期 间他则文对六子有过误会，但冰释前嫌之后4人成为了一家人。六子在圣诞节收到了铃木一家送的车票，她可以在新年期间回家，但她却哭着把票退给了铃木先生……
铃木家对面住着一位怀才不遇的文人茶川（吉冈秀隆 饰），为三流杂志写儿童读物，附近酒馆老板娘广美（小雪 饰）拜托他收养孤儿淳之介，当知道淳之介是自己的忠实读者之后，茶川对之态度改变许多。广美也对他的慷慨产生了好感，怎料在结婚前广美突然出走了。淳之介十分想找回自己的母亲，此时有一个自称是他父亲的富翁想要接走淳之介，茶川虽然不舍却没有办法，绝望之际发现前方熟悉的身影……

Natsumi loves lunchtime and food. Nothing excites her more than to walk down the street thinking about where she'll eat lunch. One day, a man Kennichiro interrupts Natsumi as she's about to eat her favorite rice omelet and drags her outside and begs her to come home with him so that he can introduce her to his family. He explains to her that his father is sick and after leaving on bad terms, the only way he'll be allowed back home is to return with a fianceé. Natsumi is left with quite the predicament.

Set in an alternate universe, the ancient capital of Kamakura is a vibrant town where fantastical creatures live alongside humans. However, just as she was beginning to settle in, a trifling incident sweeps her spirit to the underworld too soon. Convinced that destiny has something else in store for his wife, Masakazu journeys into the underworld to bring back Akiko’s spirit.

Die Schwestern Sachi (Haruka Ayase), Yoshino (Masami Nagasawa) und Chika (Kaho) leben gemeinsam in einem großen Haus in Kamakura, einer Küstenstadt unweit von Tokio. Zur Beerdigung ihres Vaters, der die Familie vor 15 Jahren verlassen hat, reisen die drei jungen Frauen aufs Land. Dort treffen sie ihre Halbschwester Suzu (Suzu Hirose), die nun auf sich allein gestellt ist. Obwohl sie die schüchterne 13-Jährige kaum kennen, bieten sie ihr kurzerhand an, zu ihnen nach Kamakura zu ziehen. Suzu nimmt die Einladung an und so beginnt für die vier Schwestern ein neues Leben, in dem zwar die Vergangenheit ihren Platz hat, aber einzig die Gegenwart zählt.

In July 1945, during the end of World War II, Japan is forced to accept the Potsdam Declaration. A cabinet meeting has continued through days and nights, but a decision cannot be made. The U.S. drops atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. General Korechika Anami is torn over making the proper decision and the Emperor of Japan worries about his people. Prime Minister Kantaro Suzuki leads the cabinet meeting, while Chief Secretary Hisatsune Sakomizu can't do anything, but watch the meeting. At this time, Major Kenji Hatanaka and other young commissioned officers, who are against Japan surrendering, move to occupy the palace and a radio broadcasting station. The radio station is set to broadcast Emperor Hirohito reading out the Imperial Rescript on the Termination of the War.

在冲绳县的伊江岛，战争中战后的2年里，2名日本兵在榕树上度过了生活。

在制药公司工作的朝仓（堤真一饰）生活中布满框条，他也被头痛症困扰。他每天下午1点都会准时开车在某个信号灯前等待绿灯，有一天下午，在这个信号灯前的朝仓依然看着车窗外那名每天准时出现的OL（柴崎幸饰）。
突然三个黑衣人闯入他的车中，用抢挟持他立即开车追另外一辆车子。原来这三个人是银行抢劫犯（寺岛进、大杉涟、安藤政信饰），刚抢完银行的他们，被另外一个同伴携带巨款私逃。由此，在这一天中，发生了许多意想不到的事情，既搞笑又温暖。每个人都找到了生活的出口，朝仓的头痛症也似乎也好了。

战后的日本，小说家大谷穰治（浅野忠信 饰）是一个散漫无度、内心虚无的男人，他不仅欠下高额酒资，还抢夺了椿屋的钱款，致令贤淑温柔的妻子佐知（松隆子 饰）带着身体不适的孩子亲自来到椿屋担任侍女还债。美丽的佐知赢得了酒客们的欢心，其中便包括大谷的书迷——年轻的工人冈田（妻夫木聪 饰）。大谷虽然花天酒地，周旋于石榴裙间，当面对妻子受到如此欢迎时，心中却涌起阵阵嫉妒与不安。而当冈田对佐知表白时，他的世界开始坍塌……

Im Sommer lernt die junge Nagisa an einem kleinen Ort am Meer Natsuo kennen, der hier seine Verwandten besucht. Vorsichtig umkreisen sie einander, bis die Erzählung sich im Regen und dem wogenden Meer auflöst. Geschickt verknüpft der Film dies mit der Geschichte der Drehbuchautorin Li, die den Winter in einer schneebedeckten Kleinstadt verbringen will, um an ihrem neuen Stoff zu arbeiten. Sie strandet in der heruntergekommenen Pension des verschlossenen Banzo, dessen Vergangenheit durch die Begegnung langsam ans Licht tritt.

The "first penguin" is the courageous first penguin that dives into the sea filled with enemies. Iwasaki Nodoka is a young single mother with no money, no house, and no work. While Nodoka decides that she will do anything to eat, she meets a fisherman who offers her "10,000 yen to rebuild the coast". Thus, Nodoka now carries the dreams of the local fishermen whose lives are on her shoulders. Despite her limited knowledge of the fishing industry, Nodoka does her best working with the stubborn sea men, breaks through the old common sense and customs with her boldness, and creates a revolution in the industry.

Tsutsumi Shinichi is a brilliant academic (Fields prize winner - Nobel Prize equivalent in Mathematics) who gave up his studies to take over his deceased father's fish-shop. They meet through a doctor's "gokon" (group date) and she falls in love with him under the mistaken assumption that he is a very rich man
